Previously in his sermon Jesus has spoken about the need to seek first the kingdom and righteousness of God (Matthew 6:33). This appears to be the primary seeking that he has in view (Matthew 8:11; Matthew 10:39; Matthew 11:29; Matthew 13:44; Matthew 16:25).1
