Again, Jesus emphasizes that the kingdom of God cannot be pinned down by us. And yet, the kingdom can, as Jesus tells the Pharisees, be present in the midst of you. That sounds rather mysterious, and for a reason. Jesus thus challenges them to finally see who is standing in front of them. Are they aware of who is speaking to them? Will they comprehend that in Jesus the kingdom of God is breaking forth in their midst?
Throughout the ages, this remains the deciding point for us people. Do we acknowledge that in the person of Jesus the portal of the kingdom of God lies open before us?
