1. Matthieu 6:33 (NEG79)
  2. Explication du texte

Does God promise to provide for believers all their basic needs?

Matthieu 6:33 (NEG79)

33 Cherchez premièrement le royaume et la justice de Dieu; et toutes ces choses vous seront données par-dessus.

Jesus encourages his disciples to live with the confidence that God will care for them. This does not mean that they will always be given basic needs. Jesus himself will testify that some of his followers will suffer for righteousness’ sake in which case they may very well go without food and water (Matthew 5:10–12; Matthew 10:16–39; Matthew 24:9–13).1 In such circumstances, fellow believers should seek to help as they can (Luke 12:33; Mark 10:30). The Christian community is given also for this purpose;2 it serves as a means by which God cared for his people.3
