Why does Jesus specifically mention clothing?

Matthieu 6:25 (NEG79)

As with food and drink, clothing is also a basic necessity. Typically in the time when Jesus ministered, clothes were made from the wool of sheep or of linen made from flax. Only the rich were able to wear silk.1 By mentioning clothes, Jesus draws attention to a basic need. He tells his disciples to be confident that God will provide for their basic needs as they focus on pleasing the Father.
