Leviticus 24:1–23 highlights the reality of God’s presence in the midst of his covenant people. In response, the Hebrews are called to maintain the temple of God with great care and diligence, which included providing oil for the lamp stands and the placing of bread on the table. Additionally, the name of God was to be treated with reverence. It was not to be used in a casual or blasphemous way.
