What is the command towards agricultural practice?

The farmer is not to reap his field to its very edges (pē’āh. The precise measurement of the border is unknown, although the Mishnah defines it as one-sixtieth of the field. Additionally, the farmer is not to gather the gleanings (lě'qěṭ) of the crop. This term refers to what has fallen to the ground during reaping. The farmer is not to go over his land a second time in order to gather these grains. A good example of gleaning practices can be found in Ruth 2:1–7.
