In modern western society, the sexual laws in Leviticus are labelled as harsh, restrictive, and out of date. Homosexuality and transgenderism are increasingly commonplace. Leviticus demonstrates that laws that govern sexual activity are absolutely necessary for the good of a society. Autonomy in this area will only lead to the breakdown of the family as an institution and of the society itself. According to Ross, the righteous must be vigilant in maintaining their allegiance to the Lord God because the wickedness of this world provides an overwhelmingly powerful threat.
