Jesus calls for total honesty in speech (see Proverbs 8:7; Proverbs 12:19). 1 It should not be necessary for kingdom citizens to require oaths in order to support their assertions. 2 They must strive to be truthful in all that they say, so that they are known as those who tell the truth. 3 James 5:12 also calls for honesty and integrity in every area of life.
