As a result of his commitment to Jesus Christ, Paul bore the marks of persecution on his body. He had various physical wounds and scars (see Acts 14:19; 2 Corinthians 11:25). 1 His opponents, by contrast (the Judaizers), did not have any such marks because they avoided persecution by refusing to proclaim the scandal of the cross (see Galatians 5:11; Galatians 6:12). 2
