The spiced wine
that she will give him reminds us of the best wine
in Song of Solomon 7:9 and is now also called the juice of my pomegranates.
Her pomegranates (probably a reference to her breasts) are not just in bloom, as in Song of Solomon 6:11 and Song of Solomon 7:12, but have budded and borne fruit, which now becomes the source of his intoxicating refreshment.
There is an element of newness about this sexual encounter (see Song of Solomon 7:13), yet at the same time, it represents the fulfilment of desires that have existed since the beginning of the Song.1
