The Psalms are the songs and prayers that God placed on the lips of his people. When the Lord made us one with himself and his church, these songs also became our praise to God in worship. One of the often-heard words in the book of Psalms is “hallelujah,” which means, “Praise the Lord.” This is nothing less than man’s highest good and purpose: praising our Lord in his goodness, mercy, patience, power, and all his majesty.
