The Kohathites carry the holy things that belong inside the tabernacle (Numbers 4:4–20). The Gershonites carry its fabrics and skin coverings, as well as the curtains of the outer court (Numbers 4:21–28). The third clan, the Merarites, carries the remaining frames belonging to the tabernacle and the outer court.
