Is there any significance in the order in which the four directions are listed?

13à l'orient trois portes, au nord trois portes, au midi trois portes, et à l'occident trois portes.
We read of east, north, south, and west, in that order. Scripture lists the four directions in every possible order. There is no known reason for the order we find here.
