1. Cantique des Cantiques 1:14 (NEG79)
  2. Explication du texte

In what way is her beloved to her a cluster of henna blossoms in the vineyards of Engedi?

Cantique des Cantiques 1:14 (NEG79)

14 Mon bien-aimé est pour moi une grappe de troène Des vignes d'En-Guédi.

Henna blossoms have a strong and pleasant fragrance. They are also shaped somewhat like the male sexual organ. These blossoms come from the vineyard of Engedi, a famously fertile oasis on the western shores of the Dead Sea. This imagery therefore carries strong overtones of both eroticism and fertility.1
