David has an emphatic victory, wherein he recovers everything that was taken,1 thereby restoring the confidence of his men in his ability to lead and deliver them. His achievement is reminiscent of Abraham’s recovery of the people and goods of Sodom after his daring pursuit (cf. Genesis 14:15–16).2
