What did David mean when he said that the LORD must value his life and deliver him out of all tribulation?
David did good to Saul and could reasonably expect good in return. Indeed, Saul invited him to go back to Gibeah. However, David did not think that Saul would keep his word, and so he stated that he put his trust in the Lord to protect him,1 rather than in any transformation on Saul’s part.
