Why did David go to a hill on the other side?

1 Samuel 26:13 (NEG79)

13 David passa de l'autre côté, et s'arrêta au loin sur le sommet de la montagne, à une grande distance du camp.

Having taken two pieces of evidence to affirm his loyalty, David placed a safe distance between himself and Saul’s army.1 Most likely in the opposite direction of his forces so that if Saul attacked, his men would not be overrun and could pursue from behind. The distance would also have made it harder for him to be captured or hurt in a ranged attack once he had woken Saul and his men.
