David was thankful for Abigail. He recognized that it was the Lord who had sent her and thereby restrained him from impulsive folly and wrongdoing (see 1 Samuel 25:26).1 She had kept him from following in the footsteps of Saul (see 1 Samuel 22:1–23).2 Publicly restrained through the words of a woman (1 Samuel 25:39), there would have been an element of shame before his men.3 Other speeches from wise women will also be found later in the book (see 2 Samuel 14:2; 2 Samuel 20:16–19).4
32 David dit à Abigaïl: Béni soit l'Eternel, le Dieu d'Israël, qui t'a envoyée aujourd'hui à ma rencontre!
