Since Satan and his assistants have been turfed from Earth and thrown into the lake of fire (Revelation 19:20; Revelation 20:10), the question arises as to what is to happen with those to whom God had initially entrusted his creation (Genesis 1:26–27; Genesis 2:15) but who had decided to follow Satan’s deception (Genesis 3:6–7). The question is important since humanity is ultimately responsible for the presence of sin in God’s world and the damage consequently done to his creation (Romans 8:20–22). The present passage relates that people’s deeds—sin-filled as we all are—earn for us the identical sentence that God imposed on the devil, the beast, and the false prophet.
