Jonathan did not appear to think that there was any real danger for David. He was not aware of any new attempts on David’s life.1 When David shared details of what transpired over those last few days, he may have been eager to dismiss them as another misunderstanding.2 Jonathan struggled to believe that his father really wanted to harm David.3 In fact, he did not want to believe that his father sought to harm David because that would have prompted him to choose between them.
