Tyre’s trade made her extremely rich and powerful, but also very proud. Pride often comes before a fall (Proverbs 16:18). The haughty looks of man shall be brought low, and the lofty pride of men shall be humbled, and the Lord alone will be exalted in that day. For the Lord of hosts has a day against all that is proud and lofty, against all that is lifted up—and it shall be brought low
(Isaiah 2:11–12).
Prosperity can be dangerous if it makes you trust in your own power and abilities. “It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God” (Mark 10:25). All we own should be used to serve the Lord.
