For upon whom has not come your unceasing evil?
This question implies that there is no one who has escaped Nineveh’s wickedness. But why does Nahum’s message end with this question? There are only two books in the Bible that end with a question: Jonah and Nahum. Both books focus on Nineveh. Jonah ends with a note of compassion toward Nineveh, Should I not be concerned about Nineveh, that great city?
(Jonah 4:11). By the time of Nahum, the Lord’s patience has run out on the wickedness of that city. The time for compassion is over. The time for judgment has come.
