1. 1 Samuel 15:29 (NEG79)
  2. Explication du texte

What did Saul need to know about the LORD’s decision?

1 Samuel 15:29 (NEG79)

29 Celui qui est la force d'Israël ne ment point et ne se repent point, car il n'est pas un homme pour se repentir.

This verse serves to affirm that the Lord’s decision is final and will not be changed.1 Where he is often open to relenting from sending calamity (see Jeremiah 18:5–10; Joel 2:13; Jonah 4:2), he is not open to changing his decision regarding Saul.2 His decision to take the kingship from Saul is an example of his faithfulness to do what he has promised. He will never repent for choosing David (see Psalm 89:28–37).3
