How does the answering of the Lord, the heavens, the earth, and the grain, the wine, and the oil lead to answering Jezreel?
The name of the first child (“Jezreel” meaning God sows) is reintroduced (Hosea 1:2–5), this time as a sign of blessing rather than judgment. The name will stay the same; Israel is still Jezreel. Only the meaning is no longer negative, but positive. God will not sow destruction on Israel. He will sow in them new life, in renewed relationship with God and his world. This will be the Lord’s answer to Jezreel.
