1. Ésaïe 21:2 (NEG79)
  2. Explication du texte

To what does Isaiah refer when he says that the traitor betrays, and the destroyer destroys?

Ésaïe 21:2 (NEG79)

2 Une vision terrible m'a été révélée. L'oppresseur opprime, le dévastateur dévaste. Monte, Elam! Assiège, Médie! Je fais cesser tous les soupirs.

Isaiah used these words to describe the oppressive Babylonian rule. Their deceiving and destroying ways caused the sighing mentioned at the end of Isaiah 21:2. The Lord would, however, bring an end to the anguish caused by the violence and oppression of Babylon.
