Ésaïe 19:25 (NEG79)

25 L'Eternel des armées les bénira, en disant: Bénis soient l'Egypte, mon peuple, Et l'Assyrie, œuvre de mes mains, Et Israël, mon héritage!

This is a complex prophecy, but it clearly shows how God leads history and holds the world in his mighty hand. He has the power to bring a country into turmoil, bring society to a standstill, confuse mighty people, and overthrow nature. God judges but also gives chances for repentance. The blessings given sharply contrast with the other judgments on the nations in Isaiah 13-23.

Israel had a special position and role to fulfill among the nations. They had to trust in God and not in political alliances.

The chapter also paints a picture of nations worshipping God together. A similar message can be found in Psalm 87:1–7 and Isaiah 56:1–8. Although Israel was the chosen people, God's mercy was not limited to one nation (see Genesis 12:3).
