In Mark 5:1–20 Jesus restored a demon-possessed man in the area of Gerasenes on the Gentile eastern side of the Sea of Galilee. Although Jesus was not met with a warm welcome then, the man who was healed went away and began to proclaim in the Decapolis how much Jesus had done for him, and everyone marveled
(Mark 5:20). Jesus’ fame might have caught on because of that incident1 so that, upon Jesus’ arrival in the region, the people knew he might have been able to help their deaf friend.
