As in Genesis 12:1–20, the promise to Abram of possessing the land and having numerous offspring has a spiritual dimension that comes to full view in the New Testament (Romans 4:16; Romans 9:7; Galatians 3:16).1 It ultimately points to Christ as the seed, and to those who believe and are saved in Christ Jesus as the “descendants.”
