Commentary on Psalm 44:16 (Summary)

Psaume 44:17 (NEG79)

17 A la voix de celui qui m'insulte et m'outrage,A la vue de l'ennemi et du vindicatif.

In the repetition the reader can taste the misery—the despair almost—of the author. The shame is in the mocking and ridiculing, the vengeance of the enemies. He enjoys the writer’s disgrace and shame.

The writer thinks, let the Lord wake up, because it is about his name and honour. Doesn’t the mocking of his people also affect the Lord himself?! Psalm 8:2 reads, Out of the mouth of babies and infants, you have established strength because of your foes, to still the enemy and the avenger. If even the babies of God's people strongly resist the enemies, where is the Lord then?!
