How was the tribe of Benjamin chosen?

1 Samuel 10:20 (NEG79)

20 Samuel fit approcher toutes les tribus d'Israël, et la tribu de Benjamin fut désignée.

Though not explicitly mentioned, the lot would have been used to disclose the Lord’s will (see Proverbs 16:33).1 Stored in the breastplate attached to the ephod of the high priest, the Urim and the Thummim would be brought out and cast whenever a simple yes or no answer was required.2 In this way the will of the Lord would be made known to his people.3 Appointing a king by lot would make it clear that he was God’s choice. The use of lots also has a negative connotation seeing as they were previously used to find Achan following his sin (see Joshua 7:16–18).
