How is the bloodshed at Jezreel an expression of Israel’s great whoredom?

Hosea (Osée) 1:4 (ESV)

4 And the LORD said to him, “Call his name Jezreel, for in just a little while I will punish the house of Jehu for the blood of Jezreel, and I will put an end to the kingdom of the house of Israel.

Ortlund asks this very important question, for it means that the first declaration of judgment is not strictly against religious syncretism but rather political injustice. He writes, “Spiritual adultery entails more than religious offences; whenever God is not trusted fully and obeyed exactly, including in the realm of politics, his people deny the adequacy of his care and protection.”1
