1 Samuel 9:1–10:16 (NEG79)

What does 1 Samuel 9:1–10:16 reveal about what God does in my place and on my behalf (the work of the Son)?

Jesus Christ is God’s true King and yet he was rejected by God’s people. Nevertheless, even in the moment of his greatest agony, when he bore the wrath of God against the sins of God’s elect, he still prayed that the Father would have mercy on his people. In this he does what God’s true King was meant to do: he offers himself as a sacrifice for the sake of God’s people.
