2 On monte au temple et à Dibon, Sur les hauts lieux, pour pleurer; Moab est en lamentations sur Nebo et sur Médeba: Toutes les têtes sont rasées, Toutes les barbes sont coupées.

The Moabites are going to their temple in Dibon to pray to their god, Chemosh. Their cries of bitterness can be heard in every city. They wear mourning clothes, and their bald heads and shorn beards show their humiliation and disgrace. Crying to idols, however, brings them no relief.
