Commentary on 2 Kings 25:23 (Summary)

2 Rois 25:23 (NEG79)

Mizpah was situated in the central portion of the land of the tribe of Benjamin, north of Jerusalem, not far from the border of the former ten tribe kingdom. Gedaliah would have done his work, starting from Mizpah. Four army commanders with their soldiers went to Gedaliah.

These remainders of the Judean army had hidden themselves (see Jeremiah 40:7–8) and had so far been successful to stay out of the hands of the Chaldeans. The big difference between Gedaliah and the soldiers is their position toward the king of Babylon.
