Commentary on Psalm 67:7 (Summary)

This is also a prayer. Deep down, the author longs for God’s blessing to fan out on his people to the ends of the earth (Genesis 12:3). Something more beautiful is not achievable for a person. And that is how God is glorified. This is most beautiful.

The same beautiful views are drawn out to us in Isaiah, Micah, and Zechariah (Isaiah 2:2–5; Micah 4:1–5; Zechariah 8:20–23). Especially striking here is what Isaiah hears about the servant of the Lord: I will make you as a light for the nations, that my salvation may reach to the end of the earth (Isaiah 49:6). Therefore, this Servant, Jesus the Christ, emphasizes to his disciples just before his return to his Father that the gospel must reach to the end of the earth (Acts 1:8; cf. Matthew 28:19–20). From all nations God should receive the praise for his saving power (Psalm 67:2).
