Commentary on 2 Kings 21:11 (Summary)

2 Rois 21:11 (NEG79)

11 Parce que Manassé, roi de Juda, a commis ces abominations, parce qu'il a fait pis que tout ce qu'avaient fait avant lui les Amoréens, et parce qu'il a aussi fait pécher Juda par ses idoles,

The sending of prophets is an act of love by God. It shows that God cared that the Israelites departed from his law. When a nation listens to prophets, though they speak harsh words, it is something to be thankful for. You hear words from God, for your salvation; and many nations and many people did not get to hear this, but Israel did. And even today, God’s people also get to hear his words.

In the light of God who sends the prophets out of love, we read this and the following verses. God announces where things are at. He especially accused the king; but, the inhabitants of Judah, too, are responsible for their sinful deeds. The seriousness is shown by the words more evil than all that the Amorites did. Amorites is a collective name to indicate all previous inhabitants of the land of Canaan.
