This section can be subdivided into three parts. The apostle first mentions the mindset of Christ that believers need to follow (1 Peter 4:1–2). He then relates the sort of conduct that necessarily belongs to the Christians’ past (1 Peter 4:3–4). He finally reminds his readers that those who in this life marginalize and oppress them on account of the faith will one day give account to the righteous Judge for their misconduct (1 Peter 4:5–6).
