Commentary on Genesis 1:31 (Summary)

Genèse 1:31 (NEG79)

31 Dieu vit tout ce qu'il avait fait et voici, cela était très bon. Ainsi, il y eut un soir, et il y eut un matin: ce fut le sixième jour.

God made man as his final and highest creature. Now he looks back on all his work of creation. What does it look like? Does what he made in six days fulfill the purpose for which he created? The Lord looks with his divine eyes. No one sees flaws as infallibly as the Lord who is the perfect One. He is the ultimate source of all that is good (see James 1:17).

The Lord comes to the infallible conclusion that everything is very good. Everything is very beautiful and good. This means the whole creation is in complete harmony. There is no enmity whatsoever. The devil is not doing his destructive work yet. He is still an angel living and working in obedience to God.
