The language used here calls to mind the description of the man of lawlessness
(2 Thessalonians 2:1–17). Through his self-deification, the Babylonian king was a follower of the devil. His humiliation is therefore also an example of Satan’s fall. In the New Testament, such an attitude is ascribed to the Antichrist. Although this passage describes the fate of the Babylonian ruler, there is a connection with 2 Thessalonians 2:1–17 and Luke 10:18.
