What is significant of Israel taking captive those who were their captors?

As the Jews were brought back to their homeland, the roles of captor and captive would be reversed. Israel would bring their enemies into the land to dwell there as servants. In doing so, they would also serve God. In the end, the subjugation of the captives would benefit both Israel and the other nations, because they would all be able to share in the salvation and peace in Israel (see Isaiah 2:1–4; Isaiah 56:1–8). They are made heirs of the promises of the Lord. This is an Old Testament prediction of how the kingdom of God would expand to include all nations.
