What is significant about Eli saying to Hannah, “Go in peace, and the God of Israel grant your petition that you have made to him”?
With this phrase Eli pronounces God’s blessing on Hannah (cf. Numbers 6:24–26). He affirms that the Lord has heard her prayer. Eli refers to God in a more formal and distant manner than Hannah.1
