The cry of Stephen is similar to that of Jesus (cf. Luke 23:46). It is an echo of Psalm 31:5—the prayer of a believer who has confidence that God will preserve his life. Coming from the lips of Stephen, it is thus a confidence that his life will now continue in the presence of Jesus.1
