The apostles stood in the same place where Peter and John had stood several weeks earlier (Acts 4:7), and where Jesus stood during his trial (Luke 22:66).1 The fact that the high priest begins the interrogation highlights the seriousness of the situation.2 There is no mention of their escape seeing as the answer would likely be an embarrassment for the Jewish council.3
