Job 2:1–3 forms an almost exact repetition of Job 1:6–8. Such repetition is typically found in ancient Near Eastern poetry and also serves to heighten the tension. We are not told how long after the first gathering this second gathering in heaven took place. Satan is present again, unwilling to admit his failure in the Job
case.
