This verse continues to keep our focus on the works of the Lord. With one blow, God ended the war. Sennacherib’s army was destroyed, and he was humiliated before Jerusalem. It is supposed that Hezekiah destroyed the spoils of war instead of taking them for himself. Chariots had little military value, especially in the mountainous area of Judah, and the Lord restricted their use in Israel (Deuteronomy 17:16). God’s people had to live by faith in him and not by faith in horses and chariots: Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God
 (Psalm 20:7).
10 C'est lui qui a fait cesser les combats jusqu'au bout de la terre;Il a brisé l'arc, et il a rompu la lance,Il a consumé par le feu les chars de guerre.
