Real repentance is not real repentance until there is a forsaking of the sin. Remember as Proverbs 28:13 tells us,
Brian Borgmanthose who confess and forsake their sin will find mercy from the Lord.You cannot just acknowledge the sin and then continue to hang on to it and expect to find mercy from God. And so here Ezra says, we need to forsake the sin and turn from it.1
