The lengthy words of the heavenly voice zero in on why the people of God should come out of Babylon. Incentive to obey breaks down to
not sharing in her plagues (Revelation 18:4–8);
the negative response of kings, merchants, and sailors (Revelation 18:9–19);
the positive response of heaven and God’s people (Revelation 18:20).
Each of these arguments adds noble encouragements to saints to resist the wrongheaded enticements of the prostitute and step away from places and contexts where those enticements would become too strong. Notice that each of these arguments is big picture in scope, taking seriously God’s omniscient perspective.
4 Et j'entendis du ciel une autre voix qui disait: Sortez du milieu d'elle, mon peuple, afin que vous ne participiez point à ses péchés, et que vous n'ayez point de part à ses fléaux.
