Paul has an eager expectation and hope for the future. He longs to see that he will not be ashamed of the great purpose of his life—that Christ be honoured. It is his desire that the glory of Christ should be manifest in all openness. In Paul himself, literally: in Paul’s body. (Christ will be honored in my body). He expresses himself this way because it is possible that he will die soon: whether I remain alive or by death.
