Why does Cain name the city Enoch after his son?

Genesis 4:17 (ESV)

17 Cain knew his wife, and she conceived and bore Enoch. When he built a city, he called the name of the city after the name of his son, Enoch.

The city bears the name of Cain’s son. Cain wants to live on in the name of that city. If only this life is your portion, you seek it therein.
