A clear proof that this is about Christ is also evident as we read this verse, for the Son of Man is given eternal dominion by the Ancient of Days! This is what Mary sings in her hymn of praise before the birth of the Lord Jesus, “He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. And the Lord God will give to him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end” (Luke 1:32–33). This is about him who proclaimed just before his ascension, All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me
(Matthew 28:18). Daniel sees how, over against the power of antichrist, the Ancient of Days gives Christ all power. He is the King of kings. We read in our verse, that all peoples, nations and languages should serve him.
The antichrist cannot prevent people from coming to faith in Christ in every nation, in every language, in every tongue. He cannot prevent people all over the world from becoming saints of the highest God through the proclamation of the gospel. No matter how the antichrist curses, rages, tempts, and oppresses the church of Christ will remain. God and the Lamb rule from heaven and the antichrist cannot stand up against them. On the day that he returns, Christ will put a final end to any power of the antichrist. His eternal Kingdom will then appear in full glory and all heaven and earth will be filled with it. It is a mighty and glorious prospect for believers, who are the saints of the Most High God.
14 And to him was given dominion and glory and a kingdom, that all peoples, nations, and languages should serve him; his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom one that shall not be destroyed.
